“First off, super friendly staff. The people at the front desk adored my toddler and definitely fed her ego. Check in was easy and the room was easy to find. I am also thankful there is on site parking at no extra cost. The parking lot isn't very big, but there were many spots open upon returning from dinner around 8pm on a Friday night. The lobby and breakfast area are beautiful and the hallways are kept clean. The rooms are average, but the bathrooms are in rough shape. The paint on the walls and bath tub are pealing and there were parts of the ceiling in the shower that were soft. Why did I touch the ceiling? I have no idea. I have a toddler and unfortunately we cannot share a bed. She's a bed hog and my snoring right next to her wakes her up. So we had separate beds, but I needed more pillows to surround her so she wouldn't fall off. I called the front desk for more pillows and they said, "I'll try to find more pillows." They found just one and I was thankful for that one pillow. I see people mentioning in the reviews about the smell in the building. It's an old building where I am sure at some point there was smoking allowed in there. Years of smoke smell does not go away. As for the thermostats in the bedroom...I was so bewildered as to why it was so chilly in my room even though I turned the temperature up. Then I read reviews here and ended up just turning the whole thing off. It was honestly the perfect temperature for me. Let's talk about Marvin the breakfast man. That guy is awesome. He made sure everything was stocked as well as taking waffle orders and putting smiles on children's faces. That guy is a keeper! Overall my stay was great! The Red Lion isn't a place where you stay for your anniversary or a vacation. It's a safe place to sleep as you are passing through town or visiting with friends and family. It's not fancy and the price shows. But it is clean and has bomb continental breakfast.”

“Positives: Front desk and breakfast staff/breakfast were excellent. Beds and linens fine. Room was clean. Free parking. Neutral: Location convenient to Capitol, downtown, waterfront, and homeless folks. Negatives: High price for (poor) quality. Hotel is dingy, rundown, in need of total renovation. Room was 83 degrees upon check-in and air conditioning was ineffective; we had to request a fan. Tub finish worn off and very stained. Faucet leaked continually. Hallways smelled stale. Room windows needed cleaning. No room service even though "Do Not Disturb" sign was taken down before 10 am. No tv info/instructions. Only one hanger provided. Freezer in room fridge needed defrosting.”
