“This was the worst experience our family has ever had at a hotel. The Hyatt and Expedia had a miscommunication and lost our reservation and it took just shy of 2 hours to get checked in. We had originally booked an accessible 2 bed, 1 sofa room and were “upgraded” to a 1 bed, 1 sofa room. To remedy our check-in issues, they gave us free validated parking, but the lot was full and we had to find street parking anyway. Breakfast was locked behind the front desk and you had to pay for anything that wasn’t apple or orange juice. We understanding that COVID has changed how breakfast is served, however the set-up was strange. For the price point of the Hyatt, we were disappointed about the service and quality of the hotel. The employees are just trying their best - it is obviously an upper management issue that needs to be remedied.”

“If I could give zero stars, I would. We had reservations last weekend. We get to the hotel and they are overbooked. The lady at the front desk told me it was my fault for booking (and paying for in advance) through a third party website. She told us to promptly cancel our online reservation, which we did. After much time and discussion, they agreed to walk us to another hotel nearby. But they didn’t pay for our stay there and that hotel was more than twice as expensive. The manager at the Hyatt said she couldn’t help me and that I would have to try and get the refund or difference from the third party website. That website (agoda) has been reluctant to say the least, because we cancelled the reservation at the direction of the Hyatt. Terrible customer service from both the hotel (though the manager was very pleasant) and the website. It absolutely ruined my first night in Des Moines as I was on the phone with one or the other for hours only to get no resolution to the matter.”
