Salida de Madrid al comienzo de la mañana. Viajamos hacia el sur atravesando La Mancha, con parada en PUERTO LÁPICE, un pueblo manchego que evoca a Don Quijote. Entraremos por Despeñaperros en Andalucía. GRANADA, llegada y almuerzo incluido. Por la tarde, tiempo libre. Day 2 - Granada - Asilah - Rabat

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Step aboard a boat to Africa. Stop in the picturesque ocean front town of Asilah. Dinner included.
Departure from Granada. We cross the Costa del Sol. In Algeciras or Tarifa we board a modern ferry to cross the Strait of Gibraltar. The coach does not normally make the crossing, so passengers must carry their luggage. Arrival in Morocco. We will journey through beautiful landscapes. ASILAH this small and picturesque walled city on the shores of the Atlantic was an ancient port and a base for pirates. Today the city is full of life. Time for lunch before we will resume our trip. Arrival in RABAT. Buffet Dinner and accommodation included.

We will go on a scenic tour of Rabat in which we will visit the immense Royal Palace, the Mohamed V Mausoleum and the mighty Kasbah of the Udayas. At midday, we will travel to CASABLANCA, where we will have a short but informative tour of the city. The tour includes a visit to the outside of what is considered one of the most important mosques in the Arab world, the great Hassan II mosque. Then, we will head to MARRAKECH. After arriving at the hotel, you will be able to experience a traditional Kalesa ride up to the famous Djema square. Dinner buffet included.

We will start the day with a guided tour of the city which gave the country its name. We will get to know the great walls of the city, the bustling Jemaa square, walk through the colorful Medina and see the Kutubia tower. We will visit to the Bahia Palace (ticket included). Lunch included. We sill have some free time to relax at the pool or discover a famous Marrakech Souk (local market). In the evening, you can experience a Fantasia dinner and cultural show (optional).
We will start the day with a guided tour of the city which gave the country its name. We will journey across the Atlas Mountains as their, usually snow-capped, high peaks will greet us as we say goodbye to Marrakech. Small Berber villages perch on the side of chasms. We will interrupt our journey to stop at the fortified village of AIT BENHADDOU, a place where several films have been filmed. At this point in our trip, our route will be going through the so-called biblical landscapes. We will spend some time in OUARZAZATE city with its impressive Kasbah. We will continue toward the valley of Roses. BOULMANE DADES. Dinner and accommodation.
NOTE: On very rare occasions (during winter), the roads may be closed due to snowdrifts. If necessary, this section of the itinerary will be rescheduled according to our alternative itinerary. (Whether we can visit the Sahara or not will depends on road access).

We will visit the stunningly magnificent TODGHA GORGE. On the way there, we shall stop at a small town built with adobe next to KHORBAT, visitors will be able to learn about this desert community, which is supported by the Europamundo Foundation. We will leave Erfoud early, crossing the Atlas between powerful gorges and stunning landscapes. We then cross a high and cold plateau area inhabited by nomadic shepherds. Stop at MIDELT, in the center of this region. After lunch we continue our route towards the Middle Atlas, the landscape changes completely, we are in a region with forests and where it snows frequently in winter. Near AZROU, in the National Park we visit "the house of the cedars", a small museum that illustrates about the region, we will be amused by the colonies of monkeys that inhabit this area. We continue to BHALIL, small and quiet town inhabited by Berbers of the middle Atlas with a very picturesque old city center with colorful streets, traditionally the population lived in caves, today these caves have been integrated into the houses. Continue to FEZ, before going to the hotel we will admire the view of the city from the Saadian tombs. Dinner included.

We will have some free time in Tangier, a good chance for some last-minute shopping, perhaps? We will return to Spain by ferry. The coach will not travel on board the ferry, therefore, each passenger will be required to carry their own piece of luggage with them. We will arrive in Algeciras or Tarifa and continue on to SEVILLE. Evening arrival.

After breakfast, a local expert will guide you on a scenic visit of Seville featuring the Cathedral and its famous Giralda (bell tower), the banks of the Guadalquivir River, popular neighborhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana and the beautiful Plaza de España. After the visit, we will include a boat trip along the river Guadalquivir, enjoying the panoramic views from the boat. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore at your own leisure. At the end of the afternoon, we will go to the historic city center area (Calle Alfonso XII) where there are many different types of restaurants for you to choose from.

We will leave Seville and set out on a stage of scenic beauty. Through hills and olive tree groves we will enter Extremadura. We will stop in JEREZ DE LOS CABALLEROS, this town once belonged to the Knights Templar and is where Vasco Nuñez de Balboa was born. We will then enter Portugal. MONSARAZ, is one of the most picturesque villages in Portugal with old fortified walls, a castle, great views and white-painted streets brimming with flowerpots. We will then travel to the city of EVORA, declared a World Heritage Site thanks to its white-painted streets, Renaissance palaces and cathedral. Time for lunch. We will also visit the impressive Chapel of Bones (admission included), which was built using the bones from over 5000 skeletons! We will arrive in LISBON toward the end of the day.

We will visit the traditional neighborhoods including the Belem district, which is the birthplace of the great Portuguese navigators who sailed the oceans in the Fifteenth Century. We will have a look around the Monument of the Discoveries, Belem Tower, and the beautiful Jeronimos Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the free afternoon when you are free to explore the city at your own leisure. In the late afternoon, we will have a transfer to the Restauradores Square, a public square with plenty of restaurants and cafes. We suggest you ride the Elevador Da Gloria funicular that takes you to the viewpoint of San Pedro with beautiful views over Lisbon and the Bairro Alto. Return to the hotel.

We will head to the north of Portugal and visit FATIMA, an important sanctuary. We will continue on our way through to PORTO, Portugal’s second largest city. We will have time to have lunch and then go on a sightseeing tour of this city, which sits on the bank of the Duero river, and its historic city centre. We will also include a visit to the old cellars. Free time.

On this day we will travel through beautiful landscapes. In the city of BRAGA, we will get on the world’s oldest cable car to ride up to the Santuário do BOM JESÚS, where we will enjoy its gorgeous views. We recommend trekking back down in order to admire its beautiful stairway. Then, we will resume our trip and head to Galicia. We will visit the historic town of CAMBADOS in Rías Baixas where we will go on a glass bottom boat trip in which we will learn about the production of mussels and oysters. Wine and mussel tasting included. At lunchtime we will arrive in SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA, where we will go on a guided tour with a local guide. This town was a famous pilgrimage destination since the Middle Ages.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Beautiful landscapes. Visit Oviedo. We will travel along the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) to Castile.
In LUGO we will have time to visit the historic town center and Roman walls, which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will make a stop on route in O´CEBREIRO, a small Galician stone village. Arrival in LEÓN at lunchtime, where we will have time to visit the Gothic cathedral with its stained-glass windows and to stroll through the historic town center.
After that, we will cross the Cantabrian Range mountains on our way to Asturias. Arrival in OVIEDO in the mid-afternoon. We will include (occasionally on Tuesday mornings) an hour-and-a-half visit of the city with a local guide in which we will visit its 9th century cathedral, Calatrava Congressional Palace, Campoamor Theatre and Calle de la Rua.
In LUGO we will have time to visit the historic town center and Roman walls, which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will make a stop on route in O´CEBREIRO, a small Galician stone village. Arrival in LEÓN at lunchtime, where we will have time to visit the Gothic cathedral with its stained-glass windows and to stroll through the historic town center.
After that, we will cross the Cantabrian Range mountains on our way to Asturias. Arrival in OVIEDO in the mid-afternoon. We will travel to Picos de Europa. We will visit Basílica de Covadonga which is surrounded by beautiful scenery. We will resume our journey following the coastline to SANTILLANA, one of Spain’s most beautiful towns, and we will visit its well-preserved medieval quarter. We visit the National Museum and Research Centre of ALTAMIRA (ticket included) located in the vicinity of this town. We will later travel to SANTANDER, the region’s capital city, a coastal city with amazing vistas and beaches. We include panoramic city tour to discover this elegant city and its beautiful bay. NOTE: On some high difficulty dates (especially in summer from July to mid September), some groups can be accommodated in Bilbao.

We will follow the motorway along the Cantabrian coast; some of the scenery we will see today, as we travel between the mountains and the sea, is specially beauty. BILBAO. We arrive in the Basque Country’s largest city. We will go on a short tour of the city with a local guide which will cover: the Guggenheim area, the old quarter, the Cathedral… then there will be free time to enjoy some authentic “pintxos”. We will then travel to La Rioja an outstanding winemaking region. We will visit the Wine Museum in Briones and learn about the significance of the ancient art of winemaking. Later on we will stop in SANTO DOMINGO DE LA CALZADA a historic town on the famous "Camino de Santiago", whose cathedral houses a hen and a rooster. ZARAGOZA, we will arrive in the late afternoon.

TODAY’S HIGHLIGHTS: Zaragoza Sightseeing tour. Rack railway to Montserrat Abbey.
We include a morning sightseeing tour of the city of ZARAGOZA with a local guide. We will visit the Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. We will also learn about Goya, the famous painter (and see some of his works), visit a Roman theatre, a Renaissance palace and walk by the Aljafería Palace.
After lunch, we will continue our journey and head to the POBLET MONASTERY, a walled monastery surrounded by beautiful scenery. It is one of the best preserved medieval monasteries in the world (ticket included). We will later travel to MONSERRAT ABBEY where we will board the rack railway and take in the fantastic landscapes. We will resume the trip and go to BARCELONA, where we will arrive in the late afternoon.
Note: In some cases, depending on the timetable of the rack railway, the ascent to Montserrat can be done in our coach. From November to March, due to the shorter duration of the days, we will neither be ascending nor stopping in Montserrat.

It is one of the best preserved medieval monasteries in the world (ticket included). We will later travel to MONSERRAT ABBEY where we will board the rack railway and take in the fantastic landscapes. We will resume the trip and go to BARCELONA, where we will arrive in the late afternoon.
Note: In some cases, depending on the timetable of the rack railway, the ascent to Montserrat can be done in our coach. From November to March, due to the shorter duration of the days, we will neither be ascending nor stopping in Montserrat.

We include a morning tour of the city, Les Rambles, Gaudí’s works, and the remnants of olympic venues. Free afternoon. We include night transportation and will attend the show of THE MAGIC FOUNTAIN of Montjuïch, with its combination of lights, colors, water and music. You will have time to dine in this area.
Note: in case of having the transfer to the Magic Fountain a day that for maintenance or any other reason the show is not performed, the night transfer will be given to the Maremagnum, avant-garde leisure center with restaurants by the sea and to the Plaza Colón.
