“In Mendoza we've regularly stayed in 3 star hotels (can't count how many times we've been to Mendoza). Every one of them has been great until we made the mistake of staying at the Ibis.
The price shown to us at check-in was higher than what we reserved through Despegar and they tried to give us a different type of room though what we had reserved was then miraculously available. They would not remove the VAT tax though every other hotel honors that. The bathroom in the room was dirty, the staff crabby and the elevator still isn't working. There are many other better choices, choose something else. We were under a bit of pressure as we hadn't booked way in advance of a holiday and didn't read the reviews. Read the reviews. You'll see there's definitely a trend in them.
Bathroom: DIRTY - not sure what they had cleaning carts for because the bathroom was disgusting, not only moldy but with other suspicious looking gunk on the shower walls. The shower head is in the ceiling in the middle of the small shower and had only enough pressure to dribble out once you managed the fine manipulations necessary to get the temperature to be neither freezing nor scalding.
Bed: surprisingly decent mattress but no top sheet only a duvet which was too warm with the poorly functioning air-conditioning. We were suspicious of them actually washing the duvet regularly with the poor state of the towels and bathroom.
Room: surprisingly quiet but small and weirdly appointed with creaky laminate flooring instead of the much more normal (for Argentina) tile floor. There's a thermostat but it did nothing to moderate the temperature of the room or change the fan speed. No mini fridge for chilling that bottle of wine you bought while out touring the vineyards. If you are unfortunate enough to be at this hotel more than one night, be sure to have them check your key card when you return for the day from an outing and before you climb the stairs to your room (did I mention the elevator isn't working). It seems they deactivate the cards each day or something. This happened to us and we watched it happen to others while we were at the front desk. There's no safe in this room either and after visiting Mendoza many, many times, this was the first time I really felt I needed one.
Breakfast: normal with medialunas, toast, eggs, cheese, ham, yogurt, juice and coffee
Service: the staff seems constantly annoyed. We watched them pitch the same line about the price of the confirmed reservation being different to another couple that was checking in. It's a thing so beware. It would appear that they know it's an issue, so why not try to be helpful and fix it instead of trying to argue the customer into the ground. We were having none of it and made them fix it.
Location: really great for taking vineyard and adventure tours and for either going into the city or out to the more rural areas by taxi”

“I was to attend a conference in Mendoza. The main hotel at the conference venue was full by the time I registered.
This unassuming Ibis was nearby. Only about a kilometer away, which was a blessing for me, as I try to keep fit.”
