The sprawling non-smoking Royal Palm South Beach Miami A Tribute Portfolio Resort has 393 rooms in a 17-story building and a five-story tower. All accommodations are equipped with flat-panel TVs CD players and work desks. Wi-Fi is available in some rooms and some rooms have rainfall showers. Art Deco-inspired decor and ocean or city views provide guests with the full South Beach experience and so do the two outdoor pools (one with ocean views) and patio bar. Guests of the hotel have the privilege of direct beach access; chairs umbrellas and cabanas are available for an additional fee. “In comparison to many hotels around ocean drive (from what I see on the outside) it’s nice. Our “ocean view” was more of a roof view with a sliver of ocean wayyyyy down past the dirty roof (see picture)- we paid way too much for that. Very spacious suite though- two rooms, two bathrooms and a sitting/living room. The service is meh. The “gift” for platinum Marriott members was an “offer” to go to a meeting to sell us a timeshare- Ugh please. On a Friday the towel service at the pool didn’t even open til 10:30. Everyone was annoyed. The food and drinks are outrageously priced (as expected of course) but the food is pretty good. The cleaning service is good but the rooms are a bit dingy and outdated. There was a mysterious stain on our floor and overall this place definitely needs some work. The bar tenders were really kind though when I asked for a kiddie drink, and some of the beach attendants were helpful also (some let us have an extra umbrella and chair for “free” in addition to the umbrella We already bought). Overall- this hotel is Just so so. Definitely doesn’t feel as nice as the usual Marriott hotels we often travel to. The best part of this place is the location, pool (not busy on a week day) and beach access.”
