“On the plus side, the location is good, although not excellent; between the Citadelle with its park and old fort, and the old part of town. And the staff were friendly and helpful, to the extent we interacted with them. The exterior of the building and the cloister corridor ceiling (now in the lobby) are interesting and attractive, but it's a shame that when the building was converted into a hotel all of the other interior elements were gutted. The entire facility, and particularly our room, needed refreshing. The carpeting and furniture were stained and banged up. The toilet had a bad smell that filled the bathroom, leading me to think it had not been properly cleaned. The marble-tile wall near the toilet had mysterious brownish crud on it. I could open the window, but couldn't close it properly. There was loud partying outside practically until sunrise, which I suppose the hotel management can't control, but I was glad to be on the top floor. Parking was another 20E+ per night, which seemed excessive given the already excessive price for the room. For a couple of nights it was just OK, but I feel we paid way too much. Two out of five stars feels a little too generous.”
