“Historic property with prime views to the sea. Acceptable service upon check-in and at the on-site restaurant. Being a 5 star, it is slightly pretentious. Upon arrival, tired and jet lagged from our journey there, we didn’t want to have a full sit down meal. I asked the restaurant for options to take food back to the room. The server responded in a snarky tone “There is no takeaway, we are not fast food.” Okay I understand that but there are more polite ways to deliver that message. For example, one could simply suggest the availability of room service.Front desk wasn’t helpful or enthusiastic when I inquired about extending our stay. We were offered a rate far higher than what was available online. So, we moved to another hotel.”
