“This is overall a great property where it is obvious significant expense was involved in the construction. The location could not be more central to South Lake Tahoe. The facilities are excellent. That's where it all stops. With perhaps one or two exceptions, the entire staff was friendly, helpful and with good intentions. However, one cannot help but assume that hospitality is definitely not what they do full time. The unit we were given had on arrival, missing towels, used laundry bags, a full dishwasher, leftover food in the freezer... and the list goes on. It felt like housekeeping had left in a rush. Thereafter, really only made better by how well-meaning everyone truly was, a number of small yet notable shortcomings became obvious. Daily room housekeeping was not an option. Think of a very expensive AirBnB but no more. At >$2000 a night for a 2 bed unit, one expects very high end service which just wasn't there. Overall, Zalanta could easily be much better but as it was it is just not worth paying close to 3x the cost of the Marriott across the street. That is probably not as high end a product but at least they likely have staff trained in hospitality and housekeeping.”

“Terrible experience at this resort. I booked a $11,000 suite for my family during Christmas week. 2 days before check-in, I get an email saying, "Sorry, there was a mistake. We overbooked and your reservation is cancelled." Imagine the panic, as family were flying in from all over the country for this week. Then, the next day, "oh! there were some cancellations and we can actually fit you in after all." Unbelievably stressful experience. Then the $11k suite had a strong mold/mildew smell for the entire stay. Gross! And there was a "boiler" problem, so there was no hot water for 2 full days, including the advertised outdoor hot tub, which was COLD. I am furious thinking about how they charged full price for such a sub-par accommodation. Finally, the last straw. I received my credit card statement a month later to find out that they charged me TWICE for this awful experience. $22,000, folks. For a room that they told me was CANCELLED. There is really no excuse for this. I think the entire management should be fired and that customers should avoid this resort at all costs.”
