Did not like this budget hotel at all. Made me think about, you get what you pay for. Room was cramped and small. Not clean including the wall fan. No A/C so had to have the window and tiny balcony door open for fresh air. Noisy location as people on the streets used the near by pubs/clubs to shoutout and with windows open in came the noise. The gentleman on duty at the front desk was very helpful and to my surprise he worked a 16 hour day both days that l stated at the hotel. Staffing was a problem and he was quite calm and happy to perform his duties. If you can find a better hotel do so, not all Ibis hotel are as bad as l hae rated this one. Oh and if you have breakfast, you have to go to a cafe up the street, not a bad place quite quirky and good service with a special menu for the Ibis mob.

When you look at the photos of this hotel, you think: "Ok, that looks nice." The shock comes when you enter the room. Even the term 'room' is a real exaggeration. 'Storage room' is more appropriate. A tiny double bed almost stands in the way of even entering the room. Our two travel bags? We somehow squeeze them in unopened. Opening does not work, we would have to leave the room. Of course there is no chair and no table! They wouldn't have fit in. We close the access door and now find a second door. The toilet and shower are hidden behind it. The shower and toilet share this miserable dark hole, separated only by a shower curtain better known as a 'rag'. The worst thing though is the smell. Sorry, stench is more appropriate. Window for ventilation. Well, if you call an opening of approx. 30 x 70 cm closed with glass a window... . Oh, I forgot: there is another balcony that is actually one square meter in size. We could put our travel bags there. Oh, that doesn't work, the door is so narrow that the travel bags don't fit through. We turned around, checked out and looked for something else. Ibis Budget, Auckland: an absolute no-go!

The hotel is situated in a very convenient location at the very heart of Auckland with bus stations, bars, restaurants and a couple of supermarkets near by. BUT we stayed in the smallest room I've ever seen in my life! There was barely enough space to open 1 suitcase. And the walls were very thin so we could hear the traffic outside and our neighbours as well. It was noisy most of the night and the light on the air conditioner was quite bright too so if you do decide to stay at the Ibis Budget I recommend you taking eye-mask and ear plugs with you. Otherwise, you aren't going to get a good sleep. On the bright side, the bed was nice, soft and comfortable and we had our own bathroom ( a very tiny one like the ones you see on planes ✈️)

Location is great, so central to everything and close to the waterfront. Rooms are tiny but the beds were super comfortable. The bathroom like most Ibis Budget's are a bit of a disaster with the shower curtain and no shower cubicle leaving water going everywhere. The high step into the bathroom was a bit dangerous especially when you forget during the night. Overall, would recommend as the price cant be beat.

Room was comfortable and warm. Door to the very small bathroom needed to be repaired during our stay, so we had one day where we had to wedge the door closed to be able to use the shower. Shower curtain was not big enough to prevent water escaping. Had to ask for shampoo, and didn't get a bathmat on our first night. Close to city centre, which was great, if a bit noisy at times. If you want a central, cheap place to stay, this isn't a bad choice.
