On the outskirts of San José just a 10 minutes' drive from Juan Santamaria International Airport Wyndham San Jose Herradura offers 3 outdoor pools and a casino. The air-conditioned rooms have satellite TV. There is a free shuttle from the hotel to the airport. The centre of San José is about 15 minutes’ drive away. Guests also have access to the golf course and tennis courts of the nearby Cariari Country Club. All of the spacious rooms at the Wyndham Herradura have coffee makers and many have hot tubs. Some have private balconies overlooking the exotic gardens. The outdoor pools have swim-up bars and hot tubs and are surrounded by sun terraces with loungers. “Went to check in and overheard some disgruntled guests saying that there was no water in any of their rooms. When we asked about this with the front desk person, they assured us that the water was on in our building...guess what?! No water and no ETA on fixing it. Also room exterior door doesn't securely lock. Doesn't look the cleanest but decent for a quick night sleep.”

“Please be very aware. This hotel is not a resort! The photos online of this hotel are not even remotely close to the actual hotel. The hotel is very run down. You can tell the owner has not put any money towards the upkeep! The pool mini bar was closed and the pool was dirty. The jacuzzi was lukewarm and the entire pool deck needed to be retiled. There was little to no water pressure in the room and the “garden view” was non existent. The toilet didn’t flush properly and the water in the sink was hand automated (VERY ANNOYING) and was extremely cold!! There were only about 5 channels on TV and the remote control did not work properly. The items in the gift shop were quadruple times the cost and the food in the hotel lounge was disgusting. The only good thing I can honestly think of was the gym and the staff who were friendly and very helpful.
